The historic town of Young is known as the Australia’s cherry capital. It is nestled in the rolling hills at the foot of the Great Dividing Range, also known as the Hilltops area. Young offers orchards, festivals, food & wine, heritage and outdoor experiences against a charming rural backdrop.
Once known as Lambing Flat because the area was reserved for lambing ewes, Young has a rich history of goldmining and bushranging. Follow the heritage trail to see historic sites around town, including the Chinese Tribute Gardens and Lambing Flat Folk Museum.
A yearly highlight is the National Cherry Festival, usually held during the first weekend in December, when thousands of visitors come to Young for a wonderful celebration of all our town has to offer. From mid-November to Christmas, you can find cherries and other stone fruits at Young’s many orchards – often you can pick your own!
There are many other excellent events throughout the year, including the Lambing Flat Festival and the Young Annual Show. Young’s convenient location also means it’s the perfect spot from which to explore the wider Young area – visit the Young Tourist Information Centre for up to date information on events & attractions.
From their beautifully presented golf course, to our superbly appointed function room, and club house, you will find the Young Golf Club offers you a very pleasant experience, no matter what you seek.
